Notes from Coach Mo
@Everyone
Good afternoon Celtics!
I hope this message finds you well. We are in the dog days of the season and with that I like to take the time walk through a couple points that we need to improve to ensure the optimum experience for each of our players and parents moving forward.
Believe in the Potential of People
For our returning players and those who have played in my team in the past, you know that I am a stickler for fostering the right team dynamic. I am an optimist, and I truly believe the only way a person can make a difference in this world is by believing in and supporting the potential of people. As a member of my team, I expect the same from each and every player on my roster. My joy comes from seeing growth of my players into not only skilled basketball players but into good and honorable people! For everyone on our roster, I have picked you to be here because I believe in your potential. Is everyone perfect, no of course not. But I truly believe you will make a difference in the world in your own special and specific way!
As a Coach, and I am sure Coach Matt will cosign with me on this, I have found that every kid will deal with emotions differently. There is no right or wrong emotion, but there is a right and wrong way to express that emotion. If your expression of emotion causes you to get rid lazy habits, tired excuses, and encourages you to strive for being your best, then that is a good thing. However if your expression of emotion negatively effects your self esteem, confidence, and/or happiness, then we need to adjust this behavior.
With that being said, I have seen on numerous occasions instances where players on this team have interacted with each other in way that would not be pleasing your parents and (for those who are religious) to God. I tend to redirect when these situations occur because to me, nobody should be judged on their worst moment. But just like how we work on our basketball skills, working on skills to become better people is equally important to me. With that being said I believe we need to work on some useful tools to help our players to grow in this area. I would like share your all the following videos:

Video 2 - Emotional tools: https://youtu.be/tV2Ecd7m6Tc?si=ol5uhabHh4tU_s_N
Request for our parents: Please sit with your child and view. Take the opportunity to discuss with your child your journey in learning deal with your emotions. Parents please post useful techniques we can share with the team on mastering this skill.
Request for the players team: I would like every player on the team to reply to this post. I would like you to tell me the following: What are two things you can do to show your teammates that you believe in their potential? What are two things your teammates can do show that they believe in your potential?
I would like to hear from your all by Friday night at the latest. I will send out our latest game film and keys to our match up with Nuggets later today. Thank you for your help on this, I look forward to hearing your perspective.
